Watching the Suns Descent
$500 16″ x 24″ framed,
$200 for print only.
This picture was taken in Kamares Harbour on the island of Sifnos in the Greek
Cyclades. I was enjoying watching the sun’s descent over the Aegean Sea, when it
aligned with a catamaran whose occupants were doing the same as me, the splendid Greek light passing through the vessel’s windows.
I arrived in Campbell River in the early 80’s and was sparked by an award in one of the initial juried members’ shows. Since then I have entered most of the annual arts council members’ shows winning several awards. I was one of 5 artists chosen to exhibit in the C R Art Gallery’s 20th anniversary show and one of my photographs was ‘inducted’ into the permanent collection. I was the inaugural artist for the satellite cases and have had solo exhibitions and shared exhibitions in the Tidemark theatre. My photos have hung in restaurants, banks and government offices and I have been published in newspapers and magazines such as Photo Life and Air Canada’s enRoute magazine. One photo was runner-up for enRoutes photo of the year and was used on their web portal. I was selected for 5 previous ‘salon(s) of Island Photographers’ in Nanaimo and was an artist in residence for the initial tall ship visit to Victoria. I have had several photos chosen for National Geographic’s ‘daily dozen’ top photos from around the world and had a photo included in NG’s “Daily Peace” hardcover book.
